In support of the American Heart Association's Go Red for Women movement, CVS MinuteClinic is offering free "Know Your Numbers" heart health screenings every Wednesday this month. On those days, customers can visit any of the more than 1,100 MinuteClinic locations nationwide and receive a heart health preventive screening at no cost to them. The screenings will provide patients with the five key personal health numbers that can help them measure their risk for heart disease: total cholesterol, HDL (good) cholesterol, blood pressure, blood glucose, and body mass index. "The more a woman knows about cardiovascular disease, the more likely she is to be able to beat it. In fact, we know that 80% of cardiac and stroke events are preventable through education and action. That's why MinuteClinic is pleased to be able to offer these heart health screenings," said Angela Patterson, DNP, FNP-BC, NEA-BC, and Chief Nurse Practitioner Officer at MinuteClinic. The Go Red for Women movement is a nationwide effort to increase awareness of heart disease and stroke in women and to empower women to take control of their health.
